We can’t thank everyone in the community enough for coming out and supporting a great cause at our first Heroes Helping Humans event! We had so much fun and hope you did as well! Keep posted for future events.

We will be hosting an event titled “Heroes Helping Humans” on Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 10am – 2pm.  This Memorial Day weekend event will feature police dog exhibitions, service dog demonstrations, and a red carpet show that will highlight a few of our local canine heroes in addition to pups adoptable through Lake Norman Humane. This will be a fun, community-oriented event that promotes awareness of the positive impact that our canine partner’s have in our daily lives. We have dedicated this event in honor of Officer Jordan Sheldon and his K9 Officer Ramon. Officer Sheldon was scheduled to perform a demonstration with Ramon, and we will honor them at the event.

K9 Officer Ramon

Age: 3 years

Breed: Belgian Malinois

Job: Track suspects, find narcotics, search buildings, protect officers

Favorite Treat: “Kong is life, he only eats because he has to”

Fun Fact: Best friend is golden doodle.

Spoiled: Officer Sheldon participated in the Adopt-a-Cop program at Langtree Charter school. He really enjoyed emailing back and forth with the kids and participating in the program. When the kids would ask him for gift ideas, he simply asked for gift cards to Petco and PetSmart so he could buy items for Ramon. He never once asked for anything for himself.

K9 Officer Ramon was blessed to have Officer Sheldon, and Mooresville has been blessed to have both officers.

Thank you for your service. Rest in peace Officer Sheldon.

We will have many other family-friendly and dog-friendly activities including goat yoga, a petting zoo, face painting, and a bouncy house.  Beer vendors and food trucks will be present in addition to many business  partners from our community.  See the list below for names of our participating partners.

Event wristbands are $5 each, which includes admission and one complimentary beer.  Children 12 and under are free and don’t require a wristband.  You can purchase a wristband at Lakewood Veterinary Hospital, at one of the participating vendors, or on the event day.

All proceeds for the event will be divided between the local Lake Norman Humane and Project K-9 Hero in honor of Officer Shelton. This non-profit organization helps provide healthcare and food for retired military and police dogs. For more information on this organization, please click on the logo below:
